After the remains of a child were found encased in concrete in early January, authorities in Colorado are hoping locate two other children missing since 2018.
A person reached out to Pueblo Police on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 10 to report a metal container that they found inside in a storage unit, saying it was filled with concrete.
Officers searched the metal container, discovering the remains of a child encased in the concrete that lined the container.
Pueblo Police, who have yet to publicly identify the victim, said they would be investigating the death as a homicide, according to reporting by the Pueblo Chieftain, part of the USA TODAY Network.
As part of the investigation, police on Wednesday also asked the public for help in confirming the "location and safety” of 9-year-old Yesenia Dominguez and 10-year-old Jesus Dominguez, who went missing from the area in 2018.
Here’s what we know.
When will the remains encased in concrete be identified?
Pueblo Police said Wednesday the remains found in early January have “not yet been publicly identified by the county coroner,” adding that the agency will release the identity after notifying next of kin.
How are the two missing children related to this case?
A connection between the missing children and the remains was not immediately clear, but Pueblo Police said the department was interested in confirming the children’s whereabouts in connection with the case.
The children have not been seen since summer 2018, when they were first reported missing.
“Yesenia Dominguez was approximately 3 years old when she was last seen, and she would currently be 9 years old. Jesus Dominguez was approximately 5 years old when he was last seen, and he would currently be approximately 10 years old,” the release said.

Pueblo Police has interviewed two people of interest, but have not made any arrests.
The investigation is ongoing.
